Katuri Kaye and Brian Murray will present during the “Defined Contribution West” Conference for Pensions & Investments (P&I) Magazine. The event, a gathering of the nation’s top plan sponsors and distinguished DC industry experts, will be held on October 20 – 22, 2024, in Pasadena, CA.
Katuri will present on the panel “NextGen Session – Unravelling SECURE 2.0: Navigating the Latest Retirement Rules” where attendees will discover why upcoming deadlines are causing management concerns and challenges. Signed into law by President Biden on December 29, 2022, SECURE 2.0 builds upon the 2019 SECURE Act, representing the most substantial changes to retirement rules in 15 years. Its primary aim is to widen access to employer-sponsored retirement plans and improve financial security.
Brian will present on the panel Legal Challenges for the Retirement Industry, where panelists will discuss a variety of ERISA litigation topics, including the Supreme Court’s recent overturning of the “Chevron Deference” ruling, which gave deference to regulators’ expertise in interpreting ambiguous laws, and which has major implications for the retirement industry. This new ruling empowers courts to interpret regulations without relying on agency expertise, potentially creating a more contentious legal landscape.
