Over the last few years, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) or their vendors have been promoting various savings programs to employers with regard to their prescription drug plans. This includes copay assistance programs, copay accumulators, copay maximizers and non-essential health benefit programs. The information provided to employers about these programs is often very high-level and employers do not understand the details. In this webinar, we will provide detailed descriptions of these programs and explain some of the legal challenges that could arise.
The following will be discussed:
- Basics on PBMs
- Basics on ways PBMs make money from employer-sponsored plans
- Descriptions and examples of the various savings programs
- Recent case involving some of these programs, Johnson & Johnson v. Save On SP
